Family Portraits for Cancer Survivor Grandmother
We had the honor of capturing multi-generational portraits for a large family that had dreamed of taking photos together for years. With the children's grandmother being a cancer survivor, it was especially meaningful to create lasting memories of her legacy surrounded by her loved ones. The kids had an absolute blast laughing, playing, and running around the beach with their parents and grandparents. They were amazing at smiling for the camera and were total rock stars at following directions between bursts of funny faces and giggles! By the end of the session, they were soaking wet from all the beach fun and begged to stay just a little longer before we finally wrapped up the day.
“A few years ago my mom was fighting breast cancer. Since surviving cancer and fighting through two knee replacements, I’ve been asking her to do family photos. We finally made it happen on a beach on the Big Island.”
We loved capturing these scenes:

Location: Mahai’ula Beach
Surrounded by rugged lava rocks and palm trees, Mahaiula Beach offers an idyllic setting for a leisurely day in paradise or a beautiful backdrop for photography. This hidden gem is less crowded than some of the island’s more famous beaches, making it ideal for those seeking a peaceful escape. The beach features golden sands, crystal-clear waters, and stunning views of the Pacific Ocean. Whether you're looking to relax in the sun or capture the stunning coastal scenery, Mahaiula Beach is a true Hawaiian treasure.
